This assertion would appear to be borne out by the fact that on the one hand, many people find them unattractive, or indeed repulsive, because of their spines, while on the other hand there are innumerable cacti associations of cacti lovers throughout the world, for this we are so thankful!

These Trichocereus cacti are native to the high Andes in Peru, South America, & Peruvian Torch Cacti (Trichocereus Peruvianus) are a close relative to San Pedro Cactus (Trichocereus pachanoi), but this rare Cactus is much less common. The Peruvian Torch Cactus (Trichocereus Peruvianus) is similar in appearance to the San Pedro Cactus (Trichocereus pachanoi), but has longer spines and a darker color, sometimes being a dark green with a blue tint in the light. Peruvian Torch Cactus (Trichocereus Peruvianus) grows much like the San Pedro cactus (Trichocereus pachanoi) , but amazingly, it seems to grow faster and be even hardier. We have been Organically growing this stock for 20 years and they are Big Fat Green and healthy. These plants are enormous some reaching 15 feet in height. These cuttings came from a man who in the late 50's early 60's brought some of the original Peruvian Torch Cactus (Trichocereus Peruvianus) & San Pedro Cactus (Trichocereus pachanoi) seeds from Peru to the USA. So these are the real deal. Please note that our Peruvian Torch Cactus (Trichocereus Peruvianus) and the San Pedro Cactus (Trichocereus pachanoi) are freshly cut from growing cacti. Each cutting is approximately 12 inches tall and 3-6 inches in diameter weighing 3-6 lbs. Please note that Peruvian Torch (Trichocereus Peruvianus) cuttings, unlike San Pedro Cactus (Trichocereus pachanoi) cuttings, have very large, sharp spines that can injure - use caution when opening the package. And please keep out of reach of small children and pets while you grow this cactus. These spines are really nasty. "see below image."
